This commit adds support for gracefully shutting down the embedded
web server. When a grace period is configured
(server.shutdown.grace-period), upon shutdown, the web server will no
longer permit new requests and will wait for up to the grace period
for active requests to complete.

This commit adds a new auto-configuration for RSocket support in Spring
Integration.
Given an application with `spring-messaging`, `spring-integration-rsocket`
and RSocket dependencies, developers are now able to leverage Spring
Integration features with RSocket.
It is now possible to configure an RSocket server with
`"spring.rsocket.server.*"` properties and let it use
`IntegrationRSocketEndpoint` or `RSocketOutboundGateway` components to
handle incoming RSocket messages. This infrastructure can handle Spring
Integration RSocket channel adapters and `@MessageMapping` handlers
(given `"spring.integration.rsocket.server.message-mapping-enabled"`is
configured.
If the `"spring.integration.rsocket.client.host"` and
`"spring.integration.rsocket.client.port"` (for TCP protocol), or
`"spring.integration.rsocket.client.uri"` (for WebSocket) is configured
then a `ClientRSocketConnector` will be configured accordingly.

This commit adds auto-configuration for R2DBC. If R2DBC is on the
classpath, a `ConnectionFactory` is created similarly to the algorithm
used to create a `DataSource`.
If an url is specified, it is used to determine the R2DBC driver and
database location. If not, an embedded database is started (with only
support of H2 via r2dbc-h2). If none of those succeed, an exception is
thrown that is handled by a dedicated FailureAnalyzer.
To clearly separate reactive from imperative access, a `DataSource` is
not auto-configured if a `ConnectionFactory` is present. This makes sure
that any auto-configuration that relies on the presence of a
`DataSource` backs off.
There is no dedicated database initialization at the moment but it is
possible to configure flyway or liquibase to create a local `DataSource`
for the duration of the migration. Alternatively, if Spring Data R2DBC
is on the classpath, a `ResourceDatabasePopulator` bean can be defined
with the scripts to execute on startup.

This commit brings MongoClientFactory and ReactiveMongoClientFactory
into functional alignment and reduces duplication in the classes
and their tests.
There are no behavior changes to ReactiveMongoClientFactory.
MongoClientFactory now throws an exception when a URI is configured
along with a host, port, or credentials, where it previousy ignored
host, port, and credentials silently. MongClientFactory now also
supports MongoClientSettingsBuilderCustomizers.

This commit makes sure that a fallback embedded datasource is not
created if no suitable connection pool is found and an url has been
explicitly registered.
This is consistent with EmbeddedDataSourceConfiguration as it is using

This commit changes the classpath check condition to verify that the

This commit hard codes the default value so that the annotation
processor picks it up. The default value is tested for consistency so
this is acceptable as providing the default value in the metadata
requires to hard code it anyway.
The Cassandra v4 driver does not longer have automatic local DC inference
from contact points. As a result, the "local-datacenter" property must be
set with the default load balancing policy and the contact points must
be of that data center.
This commit adds a new property for the local datacenter so that it can
be specified without the use of a customizer.

Prior to this commit we declared dependencies without parentheses unless

Replace Gradle single quote strings with the double quote form

dependencies section where mostly single quotes were used, but
occasionally double quotes were required due to `${}` references.
The Spring Cloud Connectors project has been deprecated in favor of the
Java CFEnv project. The Boot auto-configuration and starter that support
Connectors were deprecated in Boot 2.2.

Previously, enforcedPlatform dependencies were using to pull in the
constraints defined in spring-boot-dependencies and
spring-boot-parent and applied them strictly so that the constrained
version had to be used. This worked as intended in Spring Boot's own
build but incorrectly enforced those same strict version requirements
on external consumers of Spring Boot's modules.
This commit reworks how Spring Boot defines its internal dependency
management so that platform dependencies are exposed to external
consumers while enforced platform dependencies are using internally.

The Elasticsearch transport client has been deprecated since Spring Boot
2.2.0 and is about to be removed from Spring Data Elasticsearch and
Elasticsearch itself in their next major releases.
The available REST client support variants are now the preferred way of
using Elasticsearch features.

Prior to this commit, HTTP client builders auto-configured by Spring
Boot would be eagerly instantiating resources, even if those were not
used by the application.
This commit makes the `RestTemplateBuilder` bean as Lazy.
`WebClient.Builder` was already a prototype bean, but some of its
dependencies could consume resources, like the `HttpClientConnector` and
the related infrastructure. This commit makes those pieces lazy.
Note that since those components are meant to help instantiate actual
HTTP clients for application components, making them lazy won't make any
difference at runtime since they'll be used during context refresh, or
they won't be used at all.

This meant that in a cloud environment, a cloud provider was always checked
to see if it was active and using forward headers and there was no way to

This commit fixes the setup of tests using component scan. Previously,
a configuration used an include filter to only include a particular
configuration class in a given package. Unfortunately, include filters
do not prevent regular filters by default and the definition did not
have the intended behaviour.

dedicated class that can be reused to create additional template with

Previously, AbstractDependsOnBeanFactoryPostProcessor was unordered
which meant that it was impossible to guarantee that another bean
factory post-processor would run after it. This prevented overriding
of the dependsOn relationships that is creates.
This commit updates AbstractDependsOnBeanFactoryPostProcessor to give
it a default order of zero. This will allow additional bean factory
post-processors to be configured with a lower precedence order (values
greater than 0) so that they run after any
AbstractDependsOnBeanFactoryPostProcessor and can override the
dependencies that it has configured.

Previously, AopAutoConfiguration would only enable CGLib-based
proxies if aspectjweaver was on the classpath. The intention was for
CGLib-based proxies to always be used by default so this behaviour
was incorrect.
This commit updates AopAutoConfiguration to force the use of
CGLib-based proxies even in the absence of aspectjweaver.

In 2.2.0, @ConfigurationPropertiesScan was enabled by default.
Unfortunately, this had the unexpected side-effect of breaking
conditional enablement of a @ConfigurationProperties class via
@EnableConfigurationProperties if the @ConfigurationProperties class
was in a package covered by scanning.
This commit remove @ConfigurationPropertiesScan from
@SpringBootApplication so that it is no longer enabled by default.
2.1.x users who rely upon such conditional enablement of
@ConfigurationProperties classes can now upgrade to 2.2.x without
having to make any changes. Users who do not have such a need and are
in a position to use configuration properties scanning can now opt-in
by adding @ConfigurationPropertiesScan to their main application class
alongside @SpringBootApplication.

This commit creates a new configuration property
`spring.codec.max-in-memory-size` which configures the maximum
amount of data to be buffered in memory by codecs (both client and
server).
This property has no default value - it will let Spring Framework handle
the default behavior, currently enforcing a 256KB for provided codecs.

sure injection points that are expecting a specific bean by name use
a qualifier.

Prior to this commit, all supported servers would share the same
configuration property `server.connection-timeout`. Unfortunately, in
many cases the behavior of this timeout changes depending on the server.
From actual connection setup timeout, to detecting and closing idle
connections, this property cannot be properly translated from one server
implementation to another.
This commit deprecates this configuration property and introduces server
specific properties:
* `server.jetty.connection-idle-timeout`
(Time that the connection can be idle before it is closed.)
* `server.netty.connection-timeout`
(Connection timeout of the Netty channel.)
* `server.tomcat.connection-timeout`
(Amount of time the connector will wait, after accepting a connection,
for the request URI line to be presented.)
* `server.undertow.no-request-timeout`
(Amount of time a connection can sit idle without processing a request,
before it is closed by the server.)
`server.connection-timeout` is now deprecated and will be removed in a
future release.

Previously, a WebSecurityConfigurerAdapter would be configured
irrespective of whether or not the user had provided their own
WebSecurityConfigurerAdapter. This then required them to use ordering
to diambiguate the configuration and made it harder to take complete
control of security configuration.
This commit updates the configuration of the SAML 2 login configurer
adapter to be conditional on missing bean, aligning it with other
security configuration such as the equivalent OAuth 2 configurer
adapter.

Previously, when a NoSuchBeanDefinitionException was being analyzed,
the possibility of a missing @ConstructorBinding annotation on a
@ConfigurationProperties class was not considered.
This commit updates the failure analysis for failed constructor
injection of an instance of a @ConfigurationProperties-annotated
class. When such a failure occurs, adding @ConstructorBinding is
now suggested as an action.

Previously, Maven's default behaviour was relied up which resulted
in the artifact ID being appended to each URL as it was inherited.
This behaviour can only be disabled in Maven 3.6 and later, a version
that we cannot use due to an incompatibility with the Flatten Plugin.
This commit works around Maven's default behaviour by defining
properties for the SCM URL, connection, and developer connection and
then explicitly defining the settings in each pom using these
properties. The explicit definition of the properties in each pom
prevents them being inherited from the parent, thereby disabling the
unwanted appending of the artifact ID to the URL.

Update `DataSourceInitializedPublisher` to fallback to the
`LocalContainerEntityManagerFactoryBean` if the
`javax.persistence.nonJtaDataSource` property is not defined.
As of Hibernate 4.3 the property is no longer set if the `EntityManager`
is created from a `PersistenceUnitInfo` instance rather than actual
properties.
Although this is being addressed in Hibernate issue HHH-13432, it's
not strictly a requirement of the JPA spec that the property is set.

Previously, the upgrade to Flyway 6 broke compatibility with Flyway
5.2 due to the use of method references that refer to two methods
that do not exist in Flyway 5.2.
This commit replaces the method references with lambdas that are only
called if the user sets the related property. Unless a new-in-Flyway-6
property is set, the auto-configuration will work as before. When such
a property is set the auto-configuration will fail with a
NoSuchMethodError. This approach was chosen to make the
incompatibility clear.
We have also introduced support for passing any JavaMigration beans
in the context into Flyway. This too relies on API that is new in
Flyway 6. It is possible (although unlikely) that users had
JavaMigration beans in Spring Boot 2.1 that were being ignored. This
commit restores this behaviour when using Flyway 5.2.

Fix caching issues in `ApplicationContextRequestMatcher` and allow
subclasses to ignore an application context entirely. Update existing
matcher implementations so that they deal with the management context
correctly.
Prior to this commit, the `ApplicationContextRequestMatcher` would
return a context cached from the first request. It also didn't
provide any way to ignore a context. This meant that if the user was
running the management server on a different port the matching results
could be inconsistent depending on if the first request arrived on
the regular context or the management context. It also meant that we
could not distinguish between the regular context and the management
context when matching.

endpoints to use an AntPathRequestMatcher instead of an

The userDn and password in LdapContextSource are not nullable. The
default values for userDn and password in LdapProperties are null. When
the values are set to null there will eventually be a
NullPointerException during

doesn't allow null for values.

Since spring-projects/spring-framework#23314 and the following commit
spring-projects/spring-framework@be4facef1b, the RSocket codec selection
is relaxed and the order of configured commits matters again.
This commit ensures that the CBOR codec is configured ahead of the JSON
codec so that it can be chosen first if no data mime type is specified
when a connection is established with a client requester.
Since spring-projects/spring-framework#23314, the `RSocketStrategies`
provide more codecs by default, and there is no need to order them to
avoid conflicts during mime type selection.
This commit also ensures that the `PayloadDecoder.ZERO_COPY` is
configured on the RSocket server if the configured `DataBufferFactory`
is compatible with that strategy.
This commit updates the `RouteMatcher` configuration after the latest
Spring Framework changes. The default route matcher implementation based
on the `PathPattern` infrastructure is now tailored for the messaging
use case (path separator, path encoding options and trailing separator).

Previously, Jackson2ObjectMapperBuilder was a singleton bean. This
meant that if it was injected and mutated in one injection point,
usage in a subsequent injection point would see the previous
injection point's mutation which can lead to unexpected failures.
This commit updates the auto-configuration of the builder to make it
a protoype bean. Mutation of the builder that is intended to apply
globally should be made using a customizer.

The `reactor-tools` dependency now brings a new Reactor Debug Agent
which instruments loaded classes for better Reactor stacktraces.
This commit removes the `spring.reactor.stacktrace-mode.enabled`
configuration property since the related Reactor Hook is about to be
removed.
As a replacement, we're introducing `spring.reactor.debug-agent.enabled`
which tells whether the Reactor Debug Agent should be loaded, given that
the `reactor-tools` dependency is available. This option is enabled by
default, since adding the dependency on classpath is a strong signal
already.

`jackson-dataformat-xml` dependencies on classpath would result in a
`ClassCastException` when the RSocket auto-configuration tries to
configure Jackson CBOR codecs for RSocket strategies.

RSocket.

HiddenHttpMethodFilter can be problematic as it causes early
consumption of a request body if the body may contain parameters. This
happens as the filter needs to read the parameters to see if an
_method parameter is present. The filter is only beneficial for web
applications that are the hidden HTTP method functionality but is
potentially detriimental to all applications that are not. As such
we no longer believe that it should be enabled by default and users
should be required to opt in.

This commit reworks the auto-configuration so that only the

Deprecate the existing `BindResult.orElseCreate` method in favor of
`bindOrCreate` methods on the `Binder`. These new methods allow us to
implement custom creation logic depending on the type of object being

This commit changes the default file extension for Freemarker templates
from `*.ftl` to `*.ftlh`. This commit also enables by default the
Freemarker setting `"recognize_standard_file_extensions"` to ensure that
HTML escaping is performed by default in Spring Boot applications.

corresponding repositories support have been added.
This commit auto-configures a `ReactiveElasticsearchTemplate`
with the configuration properties under the
`spring.data.elasticsearch.client.reactive` namespace.
To enable this feature, applications require both Spring Data
Elasticsearch dependencies (typically
`spring-boot-starter-data-elasticsearch`) and dependencies
for a `WebClient` (often `spring-boot-starter-webflux`).
The support for the reactive Elasticsearch repositories is

Split the JUnit 5 `OutputCapture` class into separate `OutputExtension`
and `CapturedOutput` classes. The JUnit 5 callback methods are now
contained only in the `OutputExtension` class so no longer pollute the

and System.out separately to allow distinct assertions if required.

In the case of a WebFlux + RSocket over websocket setup, the RSocket
auto-configuration would not set up the required routes; only the
websocket endpoint for RSocket would be available, overriding the
handler configured for WebFlux.

that interface can contribute HTTP routes to the Reactor Netty server
being built.

As of Spring Data Moore, the Elasticsearch high level REST client is
supported for Spring Data repositories. The transport client is now
deprecated and is likely to be removed in a future Spring Data release.
This commit deprecates the transport client and marks all the associated
configuration properties as deprecated. The Spring Boot starter depends
on the `spring-data-elasticsearch` project, which now depends on both
transport client and high level REST client.
This commit also deprecates the Jest client, as Spring Boot will focus
on supporting the high level REST client and the reactive client
provided by Spring Data - both being in sync with the fast release pace
of Elasticsearch.

This commit migrates `AnnotationConfigReactiveWebApplicationContext`
parent to the `GenericApplicationContext` abstraction. Any use of

Since Servlet.fn support has been added in Spring Framework, new
infrastructure beans (like `HandlerAdapter` and `HandlerMapping`) have
been added.
This commit adapts the Spring MVC auto-configuration tests to reflect
those changes.
Previously, environment binding always happened in a post processor once
the bean has been created. Constructor binding requires to perform the
binding at creating time so this commit performs binding at creation
time if possible.
When this happens, a special `ConfigurationPropertiesBeanDefinition` is
created with a supplier that invokes the binder. To avoid a case where
a bean is processed twice, the post-processor now ignores any bean that
has already been bound to the environment.

identifies some of the builder methods on CacheControl as accessor methods for its fields.
This commit restores the behaviour of 3.11 so that a method is only considered to be a

Previously, the auto-configuration for both Jersey and WebMvc would auto-configure
a RequestContextFilter bean. In 2.1.0, this led to a startup failure due to the latter
attempting to override the bean defined by the former. In addition to the override there
were also problems with the order of the filter as Jersey uses -1 and MVC uses -105.
To avoid the above-described problems, the auto-configuration of the RequestContextFilter
was removed from JerseyAutoConfiguration in 2.1.1. Unfortunately, the broke
request-scoped beans for those using only Jersey.
This commit attempts to strike a better balance by reintroducing the auto-configuration
of RequestContextFilter in JerseyAutoConfiguration. It will back off if the user defines
their own filter or filter registration. WebMvcAutoConfiguration has been updated to
back off in the same manner. This leaves the potential for ordering problems, but they
are no worse than they were before. Furthermore, the user has the means to correct any
problems by using the various filter ordering properties that are provided for Jersey,
Spring Session, Spring Security, etc.

Prior to this commit, errors unhandled by custom `WebExceptionHandler`
and resulting in an HTTP 500 status would not be logged at ERROR level,
giving no information to developers about the actual exception.
This commit ensures that such exceptions are logged at the ERROR level
with their exception. By the time the exception hits the
`DefaultErrorWebExceptionHandler`, if the response is already committed
or if the exception is due to a client disconnecting, the error is
delegated to Framework support as Spring Boot won't be able to render an
error page as expected.

Prior to this commit, `DataSourceJmxConfiguration` with tomcat
`DataSource`, it can only find `DataSourceProxy` if the given
`DataSource` is a direct child of it. Since it uses `instanceof`, it
could not find `DataSourceProxy` if the `DataSource` is
wrapped(delegated) or proxied.
This is because `DataSourceProxy#unwrap()` always returns null; thus
cannot use this method to directly obtain `DataSourceProxy`.
In this commit, updated the check logic to perform the best effort to
retrieve `DataSourceProxy`. If given `DataSource` is wrapped or proxied
by spring, tries to unwrap or get target datasource recursively to find
`DataSourceProxy`.

`@EnableScheduling` detects primarily a suitable `TaskScheduler` in the

Previously, when an EntityManagerFactory was being initialized
synchronously, the DataSourceSchemaCreatedEvent would be published
during its initialization. This meant that an application listener that
depends on the EntityManagerFactory would create a dependency cycle if
it was a potential recipient of the event.
For the synchronous case, this commit moves the publication of the
event so that it occurs after the initialisation of the entity manager
factory. This allows an application listener that is a potential
recipient of the DataSourceSchemaCreatedEvent to depend on the
EntityManagerFactory without creating a cycle.

This commit adds a new auto-configuration choice for
`ClientHttpConnector`, this time using the Jetty RS HTTP client library
if available.
This is the best choice in case the application runs on a Jetty reactive
server, as both client and server will share resources.

This commit adds support for the new `ReactorResourceFactory` and
ensures that such a bean is created and destroyed with the application
context. This will create a `ClientHttpConnector` bean, to be configured
on the `WebClient.Builder` instance - or let developers create their own
`ClientHttpConnector` bean to override that opinion.
By default, the `ReactorResourceFactory` is configured to participate
with the global resources, for better efficiency.

allows developers to register custom instances of key WebFlux

Because `HttpPutFormContentFilter` has been deprecated in Spring
Framework 5.1, this commit updates the auto-configuration to replace it
with the new `FormContentFilter`. This new filter is building on the
previous one and supports HTTP DELETE requests as well.
Both filters should not be used in addition, so the former
configuration has been removed. This commit also adds configuration
metadata to let developers know about the configuration key change.

This commit changes AbstractWebMvcEndpointHandlerMapping to
be a MatchableHandlerMapping. Additionally, EndpointRequest,
now delegates to MvcRequestMatcher for Spring MVC applications.
For all other applications, AntPathRequestMatcher is used as
a delegate.

Previously, we would retrieve the EntityManagerFactory’s DataSource as
soon as it was being post-processed. When the native
EntityManagerFactory is being bootstrapped asynchronously, this
retrieval would block until bootstrapping had completed. This negated
some of the benefits of asynchronous bootstrapping.
This commit updates DataSourceInitializedPublisher so that it only
accesses the EntityManagerFactory’s DataSource once its bootstrapping
has completed. This is achieved using a decorated JpaVendorAdapter
that is called one the boostrapping has completed.

In Spring Data Lovelace, repositories' bootstrap mode can be
configured via @EnableJpaRepositories. This commit adds support for
configuring the mode via the environment rather than having to use
the annotation. Additionally, when deferred or lazy bootstrapping is
being used, the LocalContainerEntityManagerFactoryBean is configured
to use a bootstrap executor. This allows JPA's initialization to be
performed on a separate thread, allowing the rest of application
context initialization to proceed in parallel.

Since SPR-16946, Spring Framework revisited the DEBUG logging output
developers get while working on Spring MVC and Spring WebFlux
applications.
This commit aligns to those changes where DEBUG output was produced
in Spring Boot (especially in `DefaultErrorWebExceptionHandler`).
This also enables DEBUG logging on the related packages when running an
application with Spring Boot Developer Tools, providing a better
development experience.
This is also adding the new `spring.insights.web.log-request-details`
configuration property, which logs additional information about the
incoming requests at the DEBUG and TRACE levels. Since that information
can be sensitive (e.g. credentials, tokens, etc.), this property is not
enabled by default nor activated by the Developer Tools.

with sensible defaults. A new TaskSchedulerBuilder is provided with
defaults from the `spring.task.scheduler.*` namespace and can be used
to create custom instances.
If no custom `TaskScheduler` bean is present, `@EnableScheduling` now
uses the auto-configured task scheduler.

This commit ensures that the new "spring.jmx.unique-names" property
deprecates the Endpoint's specific property as they share the same goal.
If both are set with an incompatible value, an exception is thrown
inviting the user to update their configuration.

`pooled-jms`. While the former is not JMS 2 compliant, the latter is and
is independent of the ActiveMQ codebase (so potentially reusable in
custom code).

This commit deprecated the properties of `PooledConnectionFactory` that
are no longer supported by an alternative that is a JMS 2 compliant.
This commit also adds a note to warn users that this pool implementation

Add an `DispatcherServletPath` interface which provides a much more
consistent way to discover the path of the main dispatcher servet.
Prior to this commit, auto-configurations would often make use of the
`ServerProperties` class to discover the dispatcher servlet path. This
mechanism isn't very explicit and also makes it hard for us to relocate
that property in Spring Boot 2.1.
This commit also reverts most of fddc9e9c7e since it is now clear that
the supporting multiple dispatcher servlet paths will be much more
involved that we originally anticipated.

This commit adapts to a Spring Framework change based on SPR-11419 and
SPR-15338. Rather than throwing an exception when injecting a List or
Map of a candidate bean that is not present, an empty collection/map is
injected.
Previously, exclude of an import selector was applied only locally. In
other words, if one import selector imports `AcmeAutoConfiguration` and
another one exclude it, it would still be imported because exclude were
applied separately
This commit collects the outcome of all auto-configuration import
selectors and then apply exclusions in a single pass.

Previously, if a user defines a `@Bean` with a method that returns
`null`, injection by type will ignore that definition but the report
doesn't mention that candidate.
This commit improves the failure analyzer to look for user-defined beans
as well, detecting beans that are `null` matching the requested type
and including them in the report.

This commit adds the ability to customize the RetryTemplate used in the
RabbitMQ infrastructure. The customizer is slightly unusual and offer
a `Target` enum that define the component that will use the retry
template: `SENDER` for the auto-configured `RabbitTemplate` and
`LISTENER` for a listener container created by a
`RabbitListenerContainerFactoryConfigurer`.

This commit turns a lazy injection point for `HttpMessageConverters`
into an `ObjectProvider`-backed injection.
This allows to lazily rely on that bean without creating for it; in some
environments, such proxy creation can lead to issues like SPR-16990.

Since SPR-17034, the core container now behaves a bit differently when
dealing with `null` beans.
Given a `null` `HandlerMapping` bean named "resourceHandlerMapping":
* `context.getBean("resourceHandlerMapping", HandlerMapping.class)`
still returns a `NullBean`
* `ListableBeanFactory.getBeansOfType` will return a Map of all existing
beans, not including the `null` ones as values of the map.

This commit adapts to a recent Spring Framework change (a40d25a) that
turns no-op Spring MVC beans (infrastructure components that, given
their configuration, won't contribute anything to the application) into
`NullBean` instances.
Provides a way to easily exclude `MongoAutoConfiguration` or
`MongoReactiveAutoConfiguration` so that multiple mongo clients
are not present.

This commit makes sure that JMS and Mail JNDI lookups behave the same
way as DataSource JNDI lookups by enabling the "resourceRef" flag.
This will make sure to add "java:comp/env" to the lookup if the JNDI
name doesn't already contain it. If that name does not exist, a second
attempt to the original name will be issued automatically.

This commit adds support for CachingConnectionFactory for both Artemis
and ActiveMQ. If connection pooling is not enabled explicitly, sessions,
producers and consumers are cached. The factory can be further
customized, including reverting to the raw ConnectionFactory, using the
`spring.jms.*` namespace.

This commit expands ActiveMQ's connection pooling to artemis. The same
pooling features are now shared by the two brokers and a

Prior to this commit, the `DefaultErrorWebExceptionHandler` would parse
the HTTP "Accept" headers when routing the request to the error handler;
if an error occured during parsing, an `InvalidMediaTypeException` would
be thrown and break the error handling for this request.
This commit ignores those exceptions and makes sure that the error
handling function does not override the response status or the error
itself with those exceptions.

As of https://jira.spring.io/browse/SPR-16381, Spring Framework now
supports both gzip and Brotli as compression formats for static
resources resolved by the resource chain.
The `GzipResourceResolver` has been deprecated and replaced by the
`EncodedResourceResolver`. This commit uses this new resolver and adapts
the configuration key to reflect those changes.
Note that this resolver is now configured ahead of the
`VersionResourceResolver`.

As of Spring Framework 5.1, we're depending on the Reactor Californium
release train.
Reactor Netty is now at version 0.8 and changed its artifact
coordinates, package names and broke several APIs. Spring Framework is
now up-to-date with those changes and this commit does the same for
Spring Boot.
Note that in that process, the `NettyServerCustomizer` has been changed
since the former `HttpServerOptions.Builder` API is now gone from
Reactor Netty, and we're now relying on immutable server instances
instead of a stateful builder pattern.

At present, auto-configuration of `LdapContextSource` is conditional on
presence of a `ContextSource` bean. However, there are valid use cases
which require multiple `ContextSource` bean, for instance
`PooledContextSource`. With the current arrangement, the
auto-configuration of `LdapContextSource` will back off if user provides
a `PooledContextSource` bean, while it would still be reasonable to
reuse the auto-configured `LdapContextSource`.
This commit improves `LdapContextSource` factory method return value and
condition to back off only if users actually provide a
`LdapContextSource` bean themselves.

Auto-configuration of LDAP's `LdapTemplate` is currently a part of
`LdapDataAutoConfiguration` which is conditional of presence of
`LdapRepository` (i.e. Spring Data LDAP). This arrangement isn't ideal
since the `LdapTemplate` is a part of Spring LDAP project, and therefore
should not be tied to Spring Data LDAP.
This commit improves and simplifies LDAP auto-configuration by moving
`LdapTemplate` configuration to `LdapAutoConfiguration`. Consequently,
`LdapDataAutoConfiguration` is not needed anymore and is removed.

This commit adds auto-configuration support for both `RestClient` and
`RestHighLevelClient` which are provided by `elasticsearch-rest-client`
and `elasticsearch-rest-high-level-client` dependencies respectively.
`RestClient` is associated with configuration properties in the
`spring.elasticsearch.rest.*` namespace, since this is the component
taking care of HTTP communication with the actual Elasticsearch node.
`RestHighLevelClient` wraps the first one and naturally inherits that
configuration.

This commit removes Hibernate imports from JpaProperties so that it can
be used with another JPA provider.
This commit is a breaking change for an internal, yet public class used
to transmit customizations provided by the user. It does not change the
external functionality though: naming strategies defined as bean are
still taken into account and a customizer has a chance to override it
regardless.

There are documented way to reuse bits of the infrastructure in user
config to offer similar datasource configuration. If that fails, the
regular failure there will kick in.

Since https://jira.spring.io/browse/SPR-16624, the contract for
`ContentNegotiationStrategy` has been refined and should never return an
empty list if it's got no preference for a media type, but it should
rather respond with a `"*/*"` instead.
This commit fixes the `OptionalPathExtensionContentNegotiationStrategy`
defined in the Spring MVC auto-configuration to have that behavior.
